ABC Eying a Big Turnaround, Cancels GCB

The soap opera GCB started off, when the ‘Desperate Housewives’ ended their dream run. It was speculated that the show will take up from its predecessor and will end up being a bigger hit than it. Well, now it seems that the network has regained its senses, and has realized that GCB freshmen series is going low. The show has never been able to garner viewers, even on weekends. It is evident that the series lacks the firepower that ‘Desperate Housewives’ series had, but still it had a decent run, till now. ABC who are planning something big, have decided to scrap of the series along with “The River” and “Missing.”

These slots will be filled by, as the ABC network will announce on Friday by new shows. They have described some of the shows and their names. ABC is going the comedy way with some comedies lined up to join the part. One titled “How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life,” is about a divorcee played by Sarah Chalke, who moves into her parent’s house. Then, there is “The Neighbors,” which is a comedy about a guy who moves into a posh New Jersey community just to find out that all his neighbors are aliens. Freaky! Right? Another one titled “Malibu Country,” is about a singer who goes off into a country side along with her kids to revive her singing.

Besides the comedies, they are expanding their drama front too. They have announced a new series called “Last Resort,” which is about the crew of an US submarine, which doesn’t obey orders, and backs out from firing nuke missiles. The show has a very compelling storyline as the crew decides to flee and take shelter on a deserted island, which they declare as an independent nation. “666 Park Ave” is based on a novel by Gabriella Peirce, and is about a couple that manages a house in New York City, which has supernatural beings and things going around in the house. Shows like “Private practice” and “Body of Proof’ has got a renewal.
